Ministry of Labour Joins National Forum on Human Rights
A statement said that DOHA: The Ministry of Labour participated in the Third National Forum for Human Rights, (See also Al-SharaeNo Need to Hyperlink), organized by the NHRC yesterday.
The opening of the Forum was attended by Assistant Undersecretary for Expatriate Labour Affairs at the Ministry of Labour and Secretary of the National Committee to Combat Human Trafficking Sheikha Najwa bint Abdulrahman Al Thani, said on behalf Director General Public Feature in control agent State settlement maid Huda Abdul Rahman Megaesab.
Fatima Rajab Al Esmail, Member of the Secretariat of the National Committee to Combat Human Trafficking, presented a working paper on ‘Measures to prevent the exploitation of child labour on the Internet’.
Al Esmail noted that increased reliance on tech and a broadening of the digital domain has prompted a reappraisal of challenges faced by children, with protecting them from molestation top priority. She praised the National Committee to Combat Human Trafficking in Qatar that gives new importance to protecting children’s rights from modern technologies and dangers. The committee emphasizes the ongoing work in policy development, legal reinforcement and multi-level cooperation to maintain digital child protection efforts.
She added that there are many laws in place to prevent child labour, most notably the Labour Law which explicitly states prison sentences and fines for those who break them by employing a minor protecting children’s rights too.
