Global Innovation Award Goes to Qatar
Moscow, September 21 – The State of Qatar has been granted the 2024 Global Innovation Award from the World Organisation for Development in the “Good Health and Well-being” domain at the Cloud City Forum dedicated to future major cities within BRICS group, organised on September 18-19 in Moscow.
The award was received by the Director General of Doha Municipality, Mansour Ajran Al Buainain, in recognition of his leading role and his pioneering contributions towards achieving the sustainable development goals.
Al Buainain said that the success Qatar win confirms its forward-looking approach to realising sustainable development goals and promoting health for all members of society.
The achievement by Qatar reflects its commitment to incorporating sustainable development into national policies in harmonization with Qatar National Vision 2030 and the country’s efforts in various sectors of sustainable urban development, investment in smart and sustainable cities, implementing infrastructure projects compatible with environmental sustainability standards, expanding green spaces alongside strengthening waste management & recycling and converting it to energy. Qatar also took serious strides in improving the start-up scene and tech development that could be a useful first-hand experience domain, including for countries part of BRICS.
